Shy Tech and state-of-the-art technologies in the new BMW iX.

With its design, its luxurious lounge ambience in the interior and its innovative Shy Tech features, the BMW iX, as a locally emission-free automobile, is an experience for comfortable mobility in everyday life and while travelling. The Shy Tech concept puts the occupants at the centre of attention and lets the technology take a back seat until it is needed: invisible intelligence that is reflected in very special and unique details throughout the BMW iX.

Monolithic form.

Large sculpted surfaces, powerful proportions and innovative details that are perfectly integrated into the vehicle body create a minimalist design character and the iconic, monolithic appearance of the BMW iX.

Minimised surfaces.

The powerful presence of the BMW iX is augmented by boldly modelled and clearly structured surfaces, as well as a minimalist and precise use of character lines. The result is a modern appearance, underscoring the monolithic design of the body.

Front design.

The front of the BMW iX has been reinterpreted in a futuristic style, giving it an expressive presence. The vertically aligned BMW kidney grille particularly highlights the progressive appearance of the SAV, in combination with the narrowest twin headlights ever mass-produced by BMW.

Side view.

The side view of the BMW iX reveals dynamic SAV proportions, distinguished by clear surfaces without character lines. Stunning rectangular contours around the wheels confidently focus attention, reminiscent of the first BMW X models. The exterior mirrors, door openers and graphic window tapering towards the rear, the "streamflow", are harmoniously integrated into the appearance.

Rear design.

The rear of the BMW iX embodies the exterior design in its purest form: minimalist and expressive. Large surfaces, the BMW Group's narrowest rear lights, and a seamlessly integrated tailgate ensure a modern presence. The large diffuser elements optimise aerodynamics and, together with the flat underbody, improve range.

Sport package.

The sport package reinterprets the minimalist design language in an extroverted way: in contrast to the paintwork, the lower section of the vehicle is kept in Black high-gloss across the entire width of the vehicle. Sporty details such as dynamic trapezoidal shape of the central elements highlights the expressive front design.

Your favourite place on wheels.

An open and airy feeling of space characterises the interior of the BMW iX. The ambience throughout the interior is marked by noble minimalism, affording additional legroom by dispensing with the centre tunnel both at the front and in the rear. The free-standing, floating centre console almost looks like the coffee table of a luxury boutique hotel.

Minimalist interior design.

The interior design is characterised by maximum simplification, and the removal of buttons wherever they are not necessary. In the clear and seamless centre console, sensor surfaces replace conventional buttons, while the iDrive Touch Controller has a transparent design in a high-quality glass optic. The same applies to the newly designed elegant toggle switch for gear selection.

Lounge seats in the rear.

The rear bench seat is designed for three passengers – and maximum comfort. The seats all have headrests and can be optionally heated and equipped with integrated speakers. In addition, the rear seat backrest can be divided in a 40 : 20 : 40 ratio, enabling flexible expansion of the already spacious luggage space.

Panorama glass roof.

The Sky Lounge end-to-end panoramic glass roof provides an open feeling of space for a relaxed lounge atmosphere in the interior. It can be electrochromically shaded to protect against direct sunlight, and offers all passengers even more headroom thanks to the absence of an interior headliner.

Modern materials.

A special composition of materials and colour patterns characterises the highly modern interior of the BMW iX. The asymmetrical diagonal design, the unusual quilting, and additional contrasting seams create an impression reminiscent of a luxurious boutique hotel.

BMW Curved Display.

The BMW Curved Display, appearing in series production for the first time, is the central display and control element in the BMW iX – a truly innovative form of driver orientation. The 12.3″ Information Display merges with the 14.9″ Control Display to create a single unit that appears something like a modern picture frame on the instrument panel.

Hexagonal steering wheel.

With a geometry inspired by the world of racing, BMW's first hexagonal steering wheel optimises entry and seating comfort, as well as the field of vision for all driving-relevant information. Newly designed multifunction buttons with a luxurious glass look enable highly intuitive operation. In addition, optional three-stage heating of the steering wheel is available for the first time.

Seats for driver and passengers.

The BMW iX offers newly engineered seats as standard, which deliver maximum sitting comfort as well as a relaxed, lounge feeling. On request, for the first time loudspeakers and a shaker for 4D sound can be integrated into the seat construction, providing a particularly intense sound experience.

Intelligent kidney grille.

Since the electric drive of the BMW iX requires only a small supply of cooling air, the BMW kidney grille is completely closed and becomes an intelligent surface. Camera technology, radar functions, ultra-modern sensor technology, as well as corresponding cleaning systems and heating elements are housed here.

BMW logo on the bonnet.

The BMW logo on the front of the vehicle doubles as a lid for the windscreen washer fluid, so refilling is particularly clean and convenient. It can be opened with a short press and easily snapped closed again after filling.

Rear-view camera.

The rear-view camera is inconspicuously integrated in the black wreath of the BMW logo at the rear of the vehicle. The camera lens is cleaned automatically by a water spray system, which is also integrated directly in the logo and extends outwards when necessary.


The speaker panels of the surround sound system are invisibly embedded behind the fabric of the door panels, as well as directly in the headrests, offering a unique listening experience.

BMW Head-Up Display.

For the first time, the projector of the BMW head-up display is integrated flush, frameless, and therefore almost invisible in the surface of the instrument panel.

The BMW iX revolutionises the premium SAV segment. With a range of over 600 km*, it is ideal for everyday use as well as for long-distance journeys, making it a vehicle for every day. This top performance is made possible by its unique weight-optimised body concept, which was created thanks to our years of experience in a combination of intelligent lightweight construction and innovative materials such as lightweight aluminium, steel and carbon.


Innovative drive.

In addition to two electric motors, the fifth generation BMW eDrive technology includes the high-voltage storage system, power electronics, and charging technology of the BMW iX. The two powerful electric motors combined with electric all-wheel drive not only deliver efficiency, they also elevate the BMW iX’s power to a sport car level: over 500* hp and noiseless acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under five seconds.

Efficient driving comfort.

The individually adjustable recuperation system, in combination with the adaptive 2-axle air suspension, not only ensures greater range but also allows the driver to determine the handling of the BMW iX as they wish. Sporty, range-optimised, or comfortable – right up to the "one-pedal feeling”, i.e. the vehicle brakes when the accelerator pedal is released, bringing with it the typical floating feeling of electric driving.


With the numerous charging solutions from BMW Charging for at home and public, all options are open to your BMW iX. The essential products and services are integrated in the scope of delivery, such as access to the public charging network of BMW Charging and equipment for charging at home. The BMW iX achieves a charging capacity of up to 200 kW. This means it can charge 120 km of range in just ten minutes or 10-80% of the battery in under 40 minutes. At home, you can conveniently charge your BMW iX on your BMW Wallbox with up to 11 kW in less than eleven hours, bringing it back to 100% battery power, for example overnight. A large number of public providers in the dense BMW Charging network can be accessed - all via the BMW Charging Card.


The BMW iX lives up to the principle of "form follows function" in every millimetre of its dynamic design. This is primarily evident in the smooth-surfaced body with its recessed greenhouse and reduced joints, as well as in the flat underbody. In combination with the closed front end and the diffuser at the rear, as well as unusual details such as the flush-fitting door handles or the exterior mirrors integrated into the window well strips, the BMW iX achieves an outstanding Cd value of just 0.25. It thus combines range and efficiency with innovative SAV design.

The values of fuel consumptions, CO2 emissions and energy consumptions shown were determined according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version applicable at the time of type approval. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers optional equipment and the different size of wheels and tires available on the selected model.

The values of the vehicles are already based on the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to ensure the comparison between the vehicles.
