BMW GROUP MALAYSIA INTRODUCES THE NEW BMW M2 COUPÉ
Premium automaker unveils its new premium compact high-performance sports car, the only rear wheel drive premium performance car in its class.
Cyberjaya, 26 October 2017 – BMW Group Malaysia today introduced the new BMW M2 Coupé, the newest high performance compact premium sports coupé from the BMW Group’s famed M Division.
Offering a more aggressive stance in its exterior outlook and matched with its industry leading performance capabilities, the new BMW M2 Coupé also now offers new interior highlights and advanced technology for connectivity for the premium motorsports enthusiasts.
Introducing the New BMW M2 Coupé, Mr. Han Sang Yun, Managing Director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said, “The BMW M2 Coupé perfectly illustrates our strengths and capabilities in creating dynamic and premium two door, short wheel base and ultimate rear wheel drive sports car which emotionally stirs performance car fans all over the world.”
Han added that the premium automaker is constantly seeking to challenge its own boundaries in order to deliver the best in automotive innovations and sheer driving pleasure to its customers.

The high peformance sports coupé only recently took home the much coveted Sports Auto Award for the second time. A back to back win in 2016 and 2017. The appeal of this win alone, makes the New BMW M2 very appealing to motorsports fans in Malaysia.” said Han.
The New BMW M2 Coupé: An exceptional sporting prowess.
Preserving its characteristics of power, sportiness and elegance which is synonymous with BMW Motorsports, the New BMW M2 Coupé is breathtakingly more dynamic and prominent in presence, with a newly designed front and rear section. Apart from the modified front apron with large air inlets, the sporty coupé beams through the darkness at night with new bi-LED headlights in place of xenon units found on its predecessor.
At the rear, the New BMW M2 Coupé accentuates its pronounced appearance with M-specific twin exhaust tailpipes and newly designed all-LED tailights, giving the compact premium sports coupé a sharper and more aggressive modern appearance. Also introduced for the first time are 19-inch aluminium wheels in M twin-spoke design which adds exceptional dynamism to the New BMW M2 Coupé and further strengthens its performance expression.
Inside, redesigned and illuminated is the new M-specific black instrument panel with contrast stitching which features the new infotainment system with live tiles and touch screen capabilities. Your ownership experience is further enhanced with Apple Car Play, now available for the New BMW M2 Coupé via the BMW ConnectedDrive Store. Aside from an M leather ‘Walknappa’ steering wheel with M Drive buttons, interior trim finishes in high-gloss carbon fibre communicates a sense of boldness synonymous to the sports car.
The New BMW M2 Coupé continues to be indisputably dominant with a 3.0 litre M TwinPower Turbo in-line six-cylinder engine capable of up to 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 465 Nm with a short-term maximum of 500 Nm using the overboost function. The high-revving character of the engine guarantees a flash-like response even at the slightest touch of the accelerator.
The New BMW M2 Coupé also raises the bar in superior performance with a lightweight M Sport suspension system – made stiffer for better dynamism while adapting damper settings to retain ride comfort. The inclusion of the M Servotronic steering with two response settings and suitably effective M compound brakes, once again proves the car’s masterclass in agility, dynamism and acceleration.
Other highlights contributing to the specific motorsports nature of the car include the dual flow oil return pump to ensure oil is distributed evenly throughout the engine during heavy acceleration, braking and on fast curves. The electronically controlled Active M Differential, which optimises traction and directional stability, also plays a significant role here. It provides greater driving pleasure with the M Dynamic Mode (MDM) which allows for slight wheel slip and controlled drifting.
The New BMW M2 Coupé offers exterior colour offerings which include Long Beach Blue, Black Sapphire, Alpine White and Mineral Grey. The interior and seat colour comes in Dakota Black Leather with Contrast Stitching in Blue in M Sport seats for the driver and passenger.
